6 Cooler Weather Tips On Coping With Rosacea

As the temperature begins to drop and we come into our colder calendar months, Rosacea flare-ups are very cumbersome because of many deciding factors from physical, to social, to environmental, especially during the months of climate changes and holiday parties. Rosacea is a common, chronic inflammatory condition, and for those who are affected by it, it’s a daily frustration. So, among the shifts of the weather, and party hosts serving tempting holiday trigger foods, we thought it was the perfect time to share some of our expert tips to keep Rosacea triggers in check this season.

6 Tips On Coping With Rosacea During Fall & Winter

1. Avoid The Spice: Steer clear of spicy foods that lead to flare-ups with ingredients such as red pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika. Holiday season is a plethora of party foods galore, watch the spice and make healthy choices that cause triggers.

2. Monitor The Alcohol: It’s the season of red wine and holiday parties. Choose a chilled white wine over a warm red wine; warmer beverages tend to be a common trigger. Monitor what alcohol can cause you a flare up so that you may reduce intake or eliminate it all together.

3. Keep Up With The SPF: The weather may be turning, but that doesn’t mean to stop applying the sunscreen, especially when varying climate changes trigger flare-ups. Be consistent with using a good SPF 15 or higher, and moisturize daily to protect your skin against dryness.

4.  Be Gentle On Your Skin: Choose calming, skin sensitive skin care products. Chamomile and Aloe Vera have great soothing ingredients for sensitive skin. Avoid harsh products that contain alcohol, peppermint oil or witch hazel.

5.  Keep Calm, Stress Less: Keeping your anxiety and stress level low will allow your mental state of mind not to trigger the physical reactions. Meditation, stress management, and a proper amount of sleep are key to coping with Rosacea.
