Wilmington Dermatology Center’s Top Picks for Winter Skin Care:

As the winter temperature edges its way down the thermometer, be sure you are prepared with the right winter skin care products to maintain a healthy glow.  Cold, windy and dry air can be brutal to your skin, causing increased dryness to your face, body, lips and hands. As always, the #1 rule is to moisturize!

Ask the expert; what are Dr. Roz’s picks for top winter skincare products? For the face, neck and décolleté, she loves SkinMedica’s Dermal Repair Cream for the deep moisture it provides and Cerave cream for the body and hands to help keep dry skin at bay. You can pick up these products at Wilmington Dermatology Center.

Infuse your skin with the extra moisture it needs. A natural moisturizer can be found in your kitchen pantry and it tastes good too! Extra Virgin Olive Oil works wonders for the skin when it comes to moisturizing, as well as maintaining the skin’s elasticity, due to the antioxidants it contains. Olive Oil can be found in a wide variety of skin care products.  Don’t forget your lips and hands! Keep a tube of lip balm on you at all times along with a small tube of hand cream. Be sure your lip balm contains lanolin which is a natural moisturizer with powerful emollient and protective properties.

Let’s not forget sunscreen! Despite the darker, cloudy skies that winter brings, sunscreen is still an essential item that should be used on a daily basis. Even if it’s not sunny, UV protection should be considered one of your daily skin care regimen products.  Wilmington Dermatology Center recommends an SPF30 or higher with UVA/UVB protection.  SkinCeuticals and SkinMedica sunscreen products are an excellent source of protection from the sun’s harmful rays and can be purchased here at WDC.
