Cellulite in the Buttocks Treatment in Wilmington

What Is the QWO® Treatment?

Cellulite occurs when skin above fatty areas become uneven and dimpled over the years. Cords within the skin called “fibrous septae” shrink and pull down on the skin, while fat cells grow and push up on the skin, resulting in wavy, pockmarked skin. Skin can also thicken over time, making it more stubborn and in turn, more likely to develop cellulite.

QWO® treatment is the first and only FDA Approved injectable for treating moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. It is a prescription, non-surgical injectable that’s applied directly into cellulite. QWO® contains enzymes called collagenases that are used to release the fibrous septae, redistribute fat cells more evenly, and promote collagen growth for healthier, more flexible skin.

How Does QWO® Cellulite Treatment Work?

All treatments and procedures at Wilmington Dermatology Center begin with a complimentary consultation, where we’ll examine your target areas and discuss your aesthetic goals before developing a personalized treatment plan.

Prior to Treatment

On the day of your appointment, we’ll cleanse the treatment area or areas, and then apply anesthesia to minimize discomfort. We’ll let the anesthesia set for 20 to 30 minutes before beginning treatment.

During Treatment

QWO® injections are applied directly to the treatment area. Typically, a treatment area is a single buttock, and can receive up to 12 injections. Each QWO® treatment visit can consist of two treatment areas, or in other words, both buttocks. This entire process can take as little as 10 minutes or less.

After Treatment & Results

While results can be seen as early as three weeks after their first injections, most patients should receive three treatment visits with about 21 days in between them for optimal results. Because of how QWO® restructures the fibrous septae and fat cells, results should be permanent with continued upkeep including proper diet, exercise, and other changes to your routine.

Am I a Candidate for QWO® For Cellulite?

QWO® is a unique solution for moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks, for all skin types and ethnicities. It is FDA-approved for women over 18, and we recommend it primarily to patients 40 and younger with good skin texture. While QWO® treatment is excellent for dimples, it’s less effective for ripples. Your provider can help determine if QWO® is for you during a free consultation.

Before treatment, you should let your doctor and your provider know if you are allergic to any components of QWO®, including collagenase; have any bleeding problems; are taking any medications, particularly to prevent blood clotting; have an active infection in a treatment area; are pregnant; plan to become pregnant; or are breastfeeding.
