What is a Chemical Face Peel?
At Wilmington Dermatology Center we offer three levels of chemical peels from SkinCeuticals®️, SkinMedica®️, and APEELE™️. Our latest addition to our arsenal of peels is BioRepeel, an innovative formulation that offers no peeling and remarkable results. During a complimentary consultation, our highly trained team can help you determine which of our chemical peels will best help you meet your aesthetic goals: superficial, medium, or deep peels.
- Superficial peels cause the least discomfort, require no downtime, and result in more subtle changes. These are useful for treating acne scars, sun damage, and fine lines.
- Medium peels tread a little deeper, causing minimal downtime, but can improve most skin issues. These include discoloration, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and precancerous lesions.
- Deep peels are more aggressive treatments for maximum results. These can be used to address long-term sun damage, scarring, and greater improvement for any of the above blemishes.
Why Get A Chemical Peel at Wilmington Dermatology Center?
Different chemical peels require different levels of techniques — some need to be neutralized before a certain point, for instance, and too much treatment or too long of treatment can lead to scarring and color change. Our own Dr. Rosalyn George and her experienced staff have performed countless successful chemical peels, and we are widely considered by patients and skincare companies alike to be the premier practice in Eastern North Carolina. They have the know-how and skill to make the most of your chemical peel.

How Do Chemical Face Peels Work?
We begin all aesthetic treatments with a complimentary consultation at Wilmington Dermatology Center, where our specialized staff will evaluate your skin and goals to help you choose a chemical peel.
Prior to Treatment
We ask that you protect the target areas from sunlight for several days before treatment, and stop taking other treatment products, like retinoid and glycolic-based solutions, for up to seven days before treatment. Regular sunscreens and moisturizers are no issue. Just before the procedure, we’ll cleanse your skin and cover sensitive areas.
During Treatment
After Treatment & Results
Your downtime will vary depending on your level of peel, but typically you may expect redness and some flaking or peeling for a few days following treatment. Most aesthetic goals require multiple treatments, and we generally recommend a peel every four to six weeks, for anywhere from three to six treatments.
Am I a Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are an effective way for men and women to remove blemishes and wrinkles from their face, neck, hands, and other visible areas. We’ll help you determine which level and type of chemical peel makes the most sense for your skin and goals.
If you have darker skin, unusual scarring, or have used certain skin or acne treatments in the recent past, please let us know, as we may look for a more suitable solution for you.
