Smooth those “smile lines” and bring back youthful volume with JUVÉDERM® XC at Wilmington Dermatology Center.

JUVÉDERM® XC is a time-tested filler designed to treat moderate to severe lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. These types of static wrinkles develop as a result of natural volume and skin structure decreasing over time. Rosalyn George, M.D., and her team of physician assistants have recognized experience providing youthful results in a natural-looking way using JUVÉDERM® XC treatment.

What is JUVÉDERM® XC Treatment?

JUVÉDERM® XC is an injectable filler that’s used to soften deep folds, reduce wrinkles, and restore volume in the face. It’s primarily used to treat the nasolabial fold area (where “smile lines” reside), but can also be used for scarring, vertical lip lines, tear troughs, mouth corners, and chin wrinkles.

This smooth, clear gel substance is primarily made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that exists naturally in the skin but is lost over time. This non-surgical option replaces lost HA with minimal downtime for immediate, natural-looking results that last for six to nine months.

How Do JUVÉDERM® XC Injections work?

Our staff will develop a JUVÉDERM® XC treatment plan during your complimentary consultation, where we’ll discuss your goals, how many injections that will take, and which areas we will treat.

What is the History of JUVÉDERM® XC?

While hyaluronic acid has been known to maintain skin volume and hydration since 1934, it wasn’t until JUVÉDERM® XC was approved by the FDA in 2006 that this substance was cleared for safe cosmetic use in the U.S. Today, JUVÉDERM® XC is the premier injectable filler for folds, wrinkles, and volume loss.

Prior to Treatment

We’ll apply a topical lidocaine-based numbing cream to the area(s) being treated, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes to take effect. Then, we’ll thoroughly cleanse and prep the targeted areas.

During Treatment

A needle is used at the appropriate injection sites. The lidocaine helps patients tolerate the minor pinch and pressure of the injections. Treatment may require multiple injections depending on the target areas and your goals, but a typical visit lasts roughly 30 minutes.

After Treatment & Results

You’ll be given a cooling agent and instructions on how to care for your treated areas. There will be minimal downtime, but you may experience swelling or bruising for up to a week. Results should be visible immediately, take full effect after seven days, and last six to nine months.

Am I a Candidate for JUVÉDERM® XC Injections?

JUVÉDERM® XC is a product for both men and women seeking smoother facial lines and facial volume restoration, and our cosmetic professionals can help you determine whether JUVÉDERM® XC or a similar injectable is best for your goals.

If you are allergic to any ingredients in JUVÉDERM® XC including lidocaine; have had reactions to HA products in the past; have an infection on a treatment area; are pregnant; plan to become pregnant; or are breast-feeding, please disclose this information to us and your physician.

JUVÉDERM® XC Frequently Asked Questions

How long does JUVÉDERM® XC last?

JUVÉDERM® XC can last anywhere from six to nine months.

When will I see results?

Results are immediate, and you can expect full correction within seven days.

Is JUVÉDERM® XC Treatment Better Than Similar Products?

While there are a number of products for facial wrinkles, JUVÉDERM® XC is one of the most flexible solutions. However, its main focus is on the nasolabial fold area, much like JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE XC. JUVÉDERM® XC tends to spread easier and better apply to larger areas, while JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE XC uses a slightly different formulation that can potentially treat deeper folds and last somewhat longer. Our aesthetic professionals can help you determine which treatment or treatments best suit your goals.

Can I get JUVÉDERM® XC the day before a big event?

A JUVÉDERM® XC treatment has the potential for down time, including minor swelling and bruising at the injection site that may last up to a week, so plan social events accordingly.

Does the JUVÉDERM® XC procedure hurt?

After applying the lidocaine numbing cream, patients describe the JUVÉDERM® XC injection as a pinch with pressure. Some spots are more sensitive than others, but patients generally tolerate it without issue.

How does JUVÉDERM® XC get rid of my wrinkles?

JUVÉDERM® XC builds up lost natural hyaluronic acid in the skin and adds volume to the treated areas.

Does it really matter who does my JUVÉDERM® XC?

While JUVÉDERM® XC has become commonly used, there are specialty injection techniques and skills required to maintain a natural and even look. We highly recommend that a well-trained medical provider, such as Dr. Rosalyn George, who understands and has worked with facial anatomy, performs the procedure to prevent complications and to ensure optimal results.

Can I get JUVÉDERM® XC done the same day as other injectable procedures?

Yes, you can receive JUVÉDERM® XC on the same day as other injectable treatments like BOTOX®, Dysport®, and other JUVÉDERM® products.

We prefer to perform JUVÉDERM® XC treatment after laser procedures, unless they’re in different areas.

What happens if I need more correction or I didn’t achieve the results I’d anticipated?

Wilmington Dermatology Center is committed to your outcomes. We offer a two-week follow up visit after JUVÉDERM® XC treatment. If necessary, we can re-evaluate or adjust the treatment.

How Much Does JUVÉDERM® XC Cost?

Pricing is determined based on your goals and how many JUVÉDERM® XC injections are required to meet them. We discuss your treatment plan and cost during your free consultation.
