Melanoma Awareness Month
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is the main cause of skin cancer. The most dangerous kind of skin cancer is called melanoma. The American Cancer Society estimates that more than 10,000 people will die this year from melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer.
What to Look for? Learn the ABCDE’s of checking your skin.
A – Asymmetry – one half is unlike the other half
B – Border – irregular shape and poorly defined border
C – Color varies from one area to another
D – Diameter – greater than the size of a pencil eraser
E – Evolving – looks different from the others and changes in shape, color
If you have a spot that meets any of the criteria above, we recommend you have this checked.

During the CoolTone treatment, electromagnetic energy is delivered to your muscles causing involuntary contractions through the course of the entire treatment. It takes your muscles through a full workout from warm-up, high-intensity, active recovery, and cool down.
Our patients love CoolTone because they see tone and strength results much quicker than going to the gym. And they can maintain the results with our maintenance package. Take a look at just one of our clients who loved her results from CoolTone.
“I am a 45-year-old female who works out often and has 2 busy kids. I was dissatisfied with my abs and buttocks and wanted to improve these areas. Since summertime is right around the corner, I did not want to undergo a surgical procedure with downtime. When I heard about CoolTone, I decided to give it a try. The treatments were fast and painless. After six treatments I definitely saw an improvement. It made a difference in how my clothes fit, and how my bikini looks. It has also motivated me to continue on my fitness journey.”
Research / Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disorder that causes skin cells to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales. They can grow anywhere, but most appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Psoriasis is not a skin condition that can be passed from person to person.
Psoriasis is caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking healthy skin cells. If you’re sick or battling an infection, your immune system will go into overdrive to fight the infection. This might start another psoriasis flare-up.
If you or someone you know is suffering from psoriasis, we are seeking volunteers for participation in our upcoming Research Study. Qualified study participants will receive study drug, related testing, and compensation for their time and travel!
We are also currently recruiting for Eczema, also known as Atopic Dermatitis – specifically focusing on adolescents. To see if you qualify for this clinical research study, please call us at Wilmington Dermatology Center, 910-256-4350 and ask for Research. Or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
