RHA® treatment in Wilmington, NC

The face is as complicated as it is important to your looks: its delicate skin, muscles, and structure can create difficult-to-treat and hard-to-accept wrinkles and folds. That’s why we’re happy to be able to offer the RHA®️ collection of fillers including RHA®️ 2, RHA®️ 3, RHA®️ 4, and the newest addition, RHA Redensity™️. RHA fillers are one of the premier injectable fillers for natural-looking, long-lasting enhancements for facial volume loss, folds, wrinkles, and overall skin quality.

What Is RHA® Filler?

What Is RHA® Filler?

RHA®, or resilient hyaluronic acid, is a type of clear gel injectable filler to increase lost volume, soften deep folds, and reduce wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring chemical that helps keep your skin young and healthy, but over time, your skin loses its natural HA content.

With four dynamic formulations, RHA®️ fillers are the first and only FDA-approved dermal fillers for correction of dynamic facial wrinkles and folds, including around the cheeks, eyes, and mouth. RHA®️ fillers are designed to adapt to dynamic facial movement for a natural look at rest and in motion. RHA fillers closely resemble the hyaluronic acid that naturally exists in your body, resulting in very natural results that take longer to break down, and last longer than traditional fillers.

Why RHA® Treatment at Wilmington Dermatology Center?

RHA® is an extremely dynamic treatment, with multiple products in its lineup to treat different issues. However, it’s only as effective as its provider: decisions about which RHA® type to use, where to inject, and how much filler to use can all affect how natural your outcomes are.

Rosalyn George, M.D., and her team of experienced physician assistants and aesthetic professionals have extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and the effects our treatments have on your appearance. They’ve made Wilmington Dermatology Center one of the most trusted sources of injectable fillers in the country, in the top 1% of practices in the nation by volume — and they can’t wait to help you.

What is the History of RHA® Injectables?

While HA has been known to benefit skin volume and hydration since the 1930s, Revance Therapeutics developed RHA® as one of the most advanced HA formulations in the industry. This is because RHA® is more adaptable and flexible to movement, resulting in a more natural look, and is designed similarly to natural HA for long-lasting results.

How Does RHA® Filler Work?

All Wilmington Dermatology Center aesthetic treatments begin with a complimentary consultation, where we’ll discuss your skin quality, cosmetic goals, and RHA® injectables options. For instance, different RHA® fillers address wrinkles and folds that start in different layers of skin: RHA® 2 and 3 are indicated for the mid-to-deep dermis, while RHA® 4 is indicated for deep dermis. We are also pleased to offer the latest RHA® filler option, Redensity™️, the first and only FDA-approved filler for injection into both the superficial dermis and dermis to treat dynamic perioral rhytids.

Prior to Treatment

On the day of your appointment, we’ll apply a topical lidocaine-based numbing cream to the target areas. After letting it set for 10 to 15 minutes, we’ll thoroughly cleanse the area and prep for treatment.

During Treatment

We apply your RHA® treatment with a needle at the pre-planned sites. The number of injections will vary by the treatment area and your goals. Between the topical lidocaine and the lidocaine within the gel, you should only experience a tolerable pinch. A typical visit lasts 30 to 40 minutes.

After Treatment & Results

There is minimal downtime, especially after we provide a post-treatment cooling agent. You may experience some swelling or bruising that should dissipate in less than a week.

Results will be noticeable immediately, with full correction taking place over the course of a week. Your natural-looking results will last six to nine months.

Am I a Candidate for RHA® Treatment?

RHA® is an excellent option for men or women seeking smoother facial lines, increased facial volume, and an overall softer, younger appearance — particularly if a non-surgical, no-downtime procedure with lasting results is appealing to them.

Please inform us and your physician if you’re allergic to any RHA® ingredients, including lidocaine; have reacted to other HA products; have an infection in a target area; are pregnant; plan to become pregnant; or are breastfeeding.

RHA® Frequently Asked Questions

How long does RHA® treatment last?

Because the RHA® products move with your face and more closely resemble the hyaluronic acid that naturally exists in your body, it will take longer for this product to break down than other HA products, producing results that last longer than traditional fillers — about six to nine months.

When will I see RHA® filler results?

RHA® results are immediate, and you can expect full correction within seven days.

Is one HA product better than another?

We offer a range of HA fillers that are all highly effective for different correction. RHA® is a uniquely dynamic option for facial wrinkles. We’ll discuss your optimal options during a free consultation.

Can I get RHA® treatment the day before a big event?

RHA® treatment has potential for down time. There will be swelling at the injection site, and potential for bruising, that may last up to a week, so plan accordingly.

Do RHA® injectables hurt?

With the topical numbing cream applied before the procedure, and lidocaine within the filler itself, patients describe RHA® as a pinch with pressure. Some spots are more sensitive than others, but patients generally tolerate the procedure without a problem.

How does RHA® get rid of my wrinkles?

RHA® builds up the lost natural hyaluronic acid in the skin, which adds volume and flexibility to the treated areas.

Does it really matter who does my RHA®?

Injectable fillers are common, but highly dependent on injection technique and skill. We absolutely recommend you use a well-trained medical provider who knows the product and facial anatomy.

Can I get RHA® done the same day as other injectable procedures?

Yes, you can receive RHA® the same day as treatments like BOTOX®, Dysport®, or Daxi. We do prefer, however, to treat after any laser procedures.

What happens if I need more correction, or I didn’t achieve the results I’d anticipated?

Wilmington Dermatology Center is a results-driven practice, and we want to see you achieve your best possible results. We offer a two-week follow-up visit for the RHA® procedure where we can re-evaluate and adjust the treatment if necessary.

How Much Do RHA® Injectables Cost?

Cost varies depending on how many syringes are used and the areas being treated. We can discuss your treatment plan and pricing estimate during a free consultation.
