Tetra CoolPeel CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing in Wilmington, NC

From changes in skin quality to the development of obvious blemishes, there are many reasons to seek the benefits of laser skin resurfacing. In the past, however, the recovery time associated with many of these treatments made it seem like more trouble than it’s worth.

That’s not the case with the Tetra CoolPeel CO2 laser. This unique and highly versatile solution offers high levels of skin resurfacing with extremely minimal downtime — often lasting as little as three days! Our skincare professionals can customize your treatment to your skin, goals, and desired downtime.

What Is the Tetra CoolPeel CO2 Laser?

The Tetra CoolPeel CO2 Laser is a type of “fractional resurfacing” laser which removes minuscule columns of skin while leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This process uses heat energy and triggers collagen production, which can dramatically improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and clear up the skin’s complexion.

As one of the most advanced CO2 lasers available, its highly variable power, density, and pulse duration allow it to treat all manner of skin issues precisely and efficiently. Whether you require delicate touch-ups or serious resurfacing, this dynamic, non-surgical option can be customized to your needs with minimal time needed for recovery.

Why Receive CoolPeel Laser Skin Resurfacing
at Wilmington Dermatology Center?

While Tetra CoolPeel CO2 laser skin resurfacing is an incredibly advanced tool, it still requires personalized treatment plans and careful application to achieve optimal results.

In other words, you should seek a provider who isn’t just proficient with the Tetra CO2 laser but understands human anatomy on a deep level. Our own Rosalyn George, M.D., leads a dedicated team of physician assistants and aesthetic professionals who will carefully consider your goals, walk you through your treatment plan, and deliver a comfortable, customized experience with significant, natural-looking results.

The History of the Tetra CO2 Laser?

CO2 lasers are the gold standard of treating skin surface issues including wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and loose or discolored skin. The Tetra CoolPeel from DEKA was developed to provide a fractional ablative treatment without the downtime and achieves this with an unparalleled level of treatment customization to provide the most minimal interaction possible.

Prior to Treatment

You’ll need to stop using retinols, glycolic and salicylic acids, and minimize sun exposure prior to treatment. The day of your appointment, we’ll take pictures to begin tracking your progress. We thoroughly cleanse the treatment areas and apply a topical anesthetic, which we let sit for 30 to 60 minutes for full effect before cleansing the area again.

During Treatment

The laser treatment is applied to the skin in the preplanned target areas, according to the predetermined treatment plan. Tetra CoolPeel laser skin resurfacing can take as little as 10 minutes to complete, depending on the size, location, and condition of the target area, as well as the goals we set for treatment. We may recommend anywhere from one to three treatments depending on your desired results.

After Treatment & Results

Immediately after treatment, you may experience redness and roughness, and you’ll be provided a cooling agent and Dr. Rosalyn George’s personal contact information in case any concerns come up outside standard business hours.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of the Tetra CoolPeel CO2 laser is that it offers significant skin resurfacing with minimal downtime. You may experience dryness, scaly skin, and redness akin to a sunburn for a day or two, none of which should affect your ability to live normally. Even plans with multiple treatments involved should only take no more than one week of recovery.

Results are progressive. As your skin heals in the brief recovery window, you will notice it is softer, brighter, and more even. Over the following three to six months, deeper layers of skin will heal and fill in with collagen, leading to long-term improvements to skin look and feel that can last for years with proper care.

Tetra CoolPeel CO2 Laser Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the visits last?

Depending on the size, location, and condition of the target area, Tetra CoolPeel CO2 laser skin resurfacing can take as little as 10 to 15 minutes. However, we ask that you reserve an hour for your appointment to leave time for the numbing cream to take effect.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on your goals, skin quality, and lifestyle. We’ll work with you to balance the aggressiveness of treatment against potential downtime. Most patients achieve their desired outcomes in one to three treatments.

What will happen after the treatment?

The Tetra CoolPeel laser treatment triggers natural healing and collagen production, providing rapid improvement during initial recovery and more gradual, progressive improvement over three to six months.

What is the recovery time of Tetra CoolPeel laser treatments?

Dry, scaly, and red skin may persist for three to seven days at most. The Tetra CoolPeel laser treatment offers shorter downtime than any other fractional resurfacing treatments.

One of the main benefits of a CoolPeel™, is that there is minimal recovery compared to alternative procedures. You should expect to be a little red, as if you have a sunburn, for a day, or two, but nothing should prevent you from returning to your normal daily activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin hydrated.

When can I return to my normal skincare routine?

Hydrating the skin is important after treatment, so you may need to postpone using certain skincare products or makeup after treatment. We can discuss your preferred products during your free consultation.

How far in between do treatments have to be?

We recommend four to six weeks between sessions to allow for full healing time, depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment determined by your provider.

How Much Does CoolPeel Laser Treatment Cost?

Tetra CoolPeel laser treatment pricing depends on the area you’re having treated, and the number of treatments needed for your desired results. Treatment package pricing is available to offset the total cost. With WDC, there are no package commitments. We can discuss a more precise estimate during your free consultation.

How is the Tetra CoolPeel CO2 laser different from other laser skin rejuvenation procedures?

The primary difference between this and other “fractional resurfacing” procedures is the SmartXide Tetra CO2 laser’s unrivaled level of customization and, as a result, dramatically reduced downtime. This level of control over energy output and pulse duration prevents damage to surrounding skin, meaning it is a “cooler” procedure than similar treatments with excessive, damaging heat.
