Vbeam Laser Treatment in Wilmington, NC

Pigmented and vascular lesions — purple spots, obvious veins, and more — can be both unsightly and frustrating signs of age. More frustrating is the fact that many treatments are either slow to work and weak, or come with major downtime and risks.

At Wilmington Dermatology, we’re proud to use the Vbeam laser, the gold standard in treating these vascular and pigmented lesions. It’s a proven, FDA Approved solution with no downtime, and our expert staff can use it to treat many blemishes on most parts of the body.

What Is the Vbeam Laser?

The Vbeam, or Vbeam Perfecta®, is one of the most advanced and widely trusted pulsed-dye lasers — and an unrivaled solution for a variety of skin conditions and blemishes. Energy is pulsed through multiple layers of skin to reach the blood vessels that cause pigmented lesions and scars, which are then destroyed and naturally reabsorbed by the body.

The Vbeam laser is non-ablative and its energy isn’t absorbed by nearby skin, meaning Vbeam laser treatment is highly targeted and won’t harm surrounding tissue, regardless of how deep the treatment needs to be. Its automatic Dynamic Cooling Device™ also ensures that your experience is comfortable and results in minimal downtime.

The Vbeam laser has been indicated by the FDA to treat all manner of unsightly discoloration:

  • Pigmented lesions
  • Hemangioma (birthmarks)
  • Port wine stains
  • Vascular lesions
  • Obvious veins
  • Telangiectasias (“spider veins”)
  • Bruising & other post-procedure side-effects
  • Acne, psoriasis, warts, & other skin conditions
  • Most causes of unwanted redness

Why Receive Vbeam Treatment at Wilmington Dermatology Center?

It’s important to understand that while the Vbeam laser is a highly adaptive system that can automatically adjust its treatment to your skin, it’s not a fully automated tool — your provider’s skill and knowledge of human anatomy will impact how effective treatment can be.

Wilmington Dermatology Center is widely regarded as one of the best aesthetic treatment providers in Eastern North Carolina, if not the entire state. Our experienced physician assistants and aesthetic professionals, led by the industry-renowned Rosalyn George, M.D., will design a custom treatment plan for you and execute it to the highest degree of specificity and quality.

How Does Vbeam Laser Treatment Work?

As with all our cosmetic procedures at Wilmington Dermatology Center, we begin with a free consultation where we discuss your aesthetic goals and options. For instance, we use our PiQo4 laser for tattoo removal, but our Vbeam laser is ideal for discoloration caused by blood vessels. We’ll also discuss how many treatments will best serve your goals and specific treatment areas.

Prior to Treatment

We ask that you protect your skin before treatment, especially from the sun. On the day of your appointment, we’ll cleanse the treatment areas and may apply a topical numbing cream.

During Treatment

We’ll glide the Vbeam handpiece over your skin to gently break up targeted blood vessels beneath the skin. You may experience a slight heat sensation even with the numbing cream, but it’s very tolerable. The whole procedure is very safe and can be completed in 15 to 20 minutes.

After Treatment & Results

While there is some potential for bruising or redness after treatment, the highly targeted nature of the Vbeam laser treatment, combined with the Dynamic Cooling Device™ providing automated cooling to treated areas, ensures that you will have minimal side effects and no meaningful downtime — in some cases, you may have visible irritation for up to two days. You’ll be able to apply makeup the next day.

Some results will be noticeable immediately, while full results will be obvious four to eight weeks after treatment. We often recommend a series of treatments, spaced a few weeks apart, depending on the severity of the discoloration and other factors unique to your skin — each individual treatment will remove a portion of the discoloration. Your results can last years or more with proper skin care.

Am I a Candidate for Vbeam Laser Treatment?

The precise and automatically cooled Vbeam laser treatment is designed to work for men and women, most body parts, and a wide range of blemishes — and is an excellent option for anyone who wants pigmentation treatment without downtime.

However, laser treatment isn’t right for everyone, and the Vbeam laser is generally only used for light to medium skin tones, as melanin in darker skin tones can react poorly to treatment. We’ll discuss your viability and other options during your free consultation.
