Restylane® Defyne and Refyne fillers in Wilmington

What are Restylane® Defyne and Refyne Fillers?

Restylane® Defyne and Refyne are clear gel injectable fillers that do as their name suggests: define and refine your skin.

  • Restylane® Defyne is used to treat deep wrinkles and folds or replace lost volume under the skin. It provides definition for areas around your mouth and nose. Defyne can make even your most dramatic expressions look soft and natural, not puffy and stiff.
  • Restylane® Refyne provides a mid-level lifting effect and treats moderate wrinkles and lines. Where Defyne creates new definition, Refyne offers refinement to similar treatment areas. Refyne is perfect for subtly de-aging your face in a way that looks completely natural.

Both the Defyne filler and the Refyne filler use hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance in our bodies that we simply lose over time. Each of these injectables provides specially-formulated hyaluronic acid compounds to specific treatment areas for natural, youthful results. These are great, non-surgical options with minimal downtime and results lasting up to 12 months.

Why Receive Restylane® Defyne and Refyne at Wilmington Dermatology Center?

Restylane® Defyne and Refyne are both subtle and powerful treatment options, but the skill and techniques of the provider — how much filler to use, where to inject it, and more — will impact how significant and natural your results look. Dr. Rosalyn George’s team at Wilmington Dermatology Center is recognized as the top Coastal North Carolina practice by Restylane® creator Galderma, and Dr. George herself is an official trainer for Galderma products.

How Do Restylane® Defyne and Refyne Fillers Work?

As with all our injectable filler treatments, we begin with a complimentary consultation. We’ll discuss your aesthetic goals and evaluate your skin to determine which treatment best fits your case.

Prior to Treatment

On the day of your appointment, we apply a topical, lidocaine-based numbing cream to the treatment areas. After waiting 10 to 15 minutes for it to take effect, we’ll thoroughly cleanse the target areas.

During Treatment

We’ll inject carefully-considered amounts of Defyne filler or Refyne filler in the areas that will provide the most significant and natural-looking results. There is lidocaine in the gel to further help with the minor pinch and pressure felt during injection. Depending on your goals and the target areas, this may require multiple injections, and this process typically takes 30 to 40 minutes.

After Treatment & Results

You’ll be given a cooling agent to apply to the treated areas after the procedure. You may experience swelling and bruising that shouldn’t last more than a week. Results will be evident immediately after the procedure, but full correction will take a week. Results can last up to 12 months.

Restylane® Defyne and Refyne Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne last?

Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne have been proven to last up to 12 months.

When will I see results?

Restylane® Refyne and Defyne results are evident immediately, and you can expect full correction within a week.

Is one of these options better than the other, or similar products?

There are many fillers that are all perfectly effective, but some are better for certain cosmetic goals than others. Defyne filler is mainly used to add volume and reduce deep wrinkles around the nose and mouth, while Refyne filler treats moderate wrinkles, most often between the mouth and nose.

Can I get Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne the day before a big event?

Both Refyne and Defyne treatment have potential for downtime. Not everyone bruises, but most will experience swelling at a minimum. These side effects should disappear within a week.

Does the Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne procedure hurt?

Between numbing cream and anesthetic within the filler, most patients experience a pinch with some pressure. Some spots can be more sensitive than others, but most patients tolerate it without issue.

How Do Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne filler work?

The body contains hyaluronic acid (HA) that helps support skin, but this fades naturally over time. Restylane® Defyne and Refyne build up the lost natural HA in the skin. They’re tailored with XpresHAn technology to provide varying amounts of treatment for natural results in all areas of the face.

Does it really matter who does my Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne?

Restylane® Defyne and Refyne are incredibly useful tools, but still require someone who knows how to use them for results that are both significant and completely natural looking. We recommend you use a highly trained-medical provider who understands facial anatomy at a deep level, like our own Dr. Rosalyn George, to perform the procedure to prevent complications and provide exceptional results.

Can I get Restylane® Refyne or Restylane® Defyne done the same day as other injectable procedures?

Yes, you can receive Restylane® Defyne and Refyne the same day as other fillers such as BOTOX®, Dysport®, and VOLLURE™.

We do ask that you let us know if you’re getting laser treatment, as fillers should be done afterwards.

What happens if I need more correction or I didn’t achieve the results I’d anticipated?

It’s important to everyone at Wilmington Dermatology Center that our patients are as satisfied with their treatment as possible. We offer a two-week follow-up for Restylane® Defyne and Refyne, where we can evaluate your results and adjust treatment as necessary.

How Much Do Restylane® Defyne and Refyne Cost?

The cost of treatment with Restylane® Defyne and Refyne depends mainly on how many syringes are necessary to give you the results you’re looking for. We’ll discuss your optimal treatment plan and potential cost during your free consultation.
