Acne, as many of us are all too familiar with, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. In fact, it’s one of the most common skin conditions in the US affecting up to 50 million Americans annually.
What is causing the acne? There are many contributing factors that can cause acne, or make it worse including:
- Emotional stress.
- Foods with a high glycemic load such as white grains (bread, rice, pasta) and sweets have been linked to acne.6 For overall good health, people should eat a healthy, balanced diet.
Lucky for us, there are many affective treatments to help deal with or keep you acne at bay. Keeping our skin cleansed once or twice a day, using oil free cosmetics, not popping picking and squeezing pimples are good ways to care for your acne on a daily basis If there is a need for additional treatment, some of the most common acne treatments are doctors prescribed medications both topical, oral medication, or a combination of the two.
If you’re dealing with mild to severe acne, we’re currently recruiting to a facial acne study to test the efficacy of a new medication. Enrolling in this trial can get you free treatment and even compensation for your time!
