Frown lines, Crow’s feet, and unwanted wrinkles around the forehead are common signs of aging, but thankfully, Dysport® treatment can temporarily smooth and remove lines! Rosalyn George, M.D., and her team have administered countless injectables treatments to improve our patients’ skin with leading-edge solutions. We’re ready to customize your treatment plan to your aesthetic goals!

What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is a prescription injectable used by men and women to treat stubborn frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and other fine lines on the forehead. It’s an excellent, non-surgical option that reduces the effects of aging and helps restore a more youthful appearance!

Dysport® is a purified form of botulinum toxin, the active ingredient in Botox®, which has been shown to temporarily soften and remove moderate to severe frown lines. It does this by blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscles: this prevents contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines and reduces the appearance of movement lines.

History of Dysport®

Though Dysport® was approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. in 2009, it’s been used throughout Europe, and in a number of other countries, for years. Dysport® was first available in the U.K. in 1991, where it was used to treat muscle spasms, particularly those of the face and neck.

Dysport® was developed by Galderma and is eligible for credit towards their ASPIRE Galderma Rewards Program, a free program in which you receive credit towards purchases and earn money saving coupons on future treatments!

How Do Dysport® Injections Work?

At Wilmington Dermatology Center, we take extra steps to ensure that your Dysport® treatment provides natural-looking results.

  1. We evaluate which areas need to be treated based on your facial expressions.
  2. The areas are cleaned, then prepped with numbing cream as required or requested.
  3. A small needle is used to apply Dystport® injections. You may feel minor pinching.

This whole non-surgical procedure takes only about 10 minutes, with no downtime to speak of, though there may be temporary redness of the treatment areas. Patients begin to see results in 5 to 7 days, with full correction taking about 14 days. Results, however, can last anywhere from 3 to 4 months!

Am I A Candidate for Dysport®?

We offer free cosmetic evaluations and encourage anyone considering Dysport® or other rejuvenation procedures to speak with our specialists. However, we can confirm that adults of all ages, both men and women, experience the benefits of reduced wrinkle lines through the use of Dysport®!

You should consult your physician and tell us if any of the following are true for you:

  • You are allergic to any ingredient in Dysport®, you’ve had an allergic reaction to another botulinum product, or you’ve used other botulinum injections in the past.
  • You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, and/or are breastfeeding.
